Bowling

Migi came to town!  And the boys decided to turn our driveway into a bowling lane, but it was hot and humid, so on a whim, we took them to the bowling alley that is just minutes from our house, but I'd never been.  The boys loved it, and I had a hard time narrowing down the pictures.
We used bumpers and the ball ramp (for the boys):

Hayes wasn't into the actual bowling, but he loved everything about the bowling alley:

Grant bowled for himself and for Hayes:

Hayes stopped Migi mid-bowl to give her her purse:

We had the bowling alley completely to ourselves:

The nervous wait (it was a long wait...notice, no ramp in this picture because this was Grant's attempt at regular bowling):

Check out that nice follow through:

The ball return was Hayes' favorite area:

Celebrating a good bowl:

I couldn't believe they had little tiny bowling shoes for Hayes to wear:

Gotta keep the hands dry:

The final score was surprisingly close:

At what age will my children pose happily with me?

Every child needs a bowling pin head shot:

After bowling, we hit up the arcade, including the boys' first round of skee ball.

Trying...

It turns out having a big bro does make you try things earlier.  After saying "poo" several times during lunch, I picked Hayes up from his booster seat expecting to find a dirty diaper, but he was clean so I set him down.  He promptly  walked over to the toilet and said "poo."  So I stripped him down and let him sit on the little potty we'd been using as a step stool.   He spent a few minutes alternating between sitting on it and attempting to put his hand in it.  I snapped the cute picture posted below and went to help Grant finish his lunch.  A few seconds later, Hayes was grinning in the hall and repeated once more: "poo"...and this time, sure enough there was a pile of poo...right beside the potty.  While I was cleaning that up, I heard a distinctive splashing sound and turned to find Hayes peeing on the rug behind me.  Hayes thinks he's ready for potty training, but so far, I disagree! :)

Ahoy Matey!

We took the boys out to the pirate ship at Oval Park to be pirates (...or in our case, pirate cowboys since we didn't have pirate hats)

Clifton Park

Despite one very busy day, the boys still had energy for after dinner ice cream and play in adorable Clifton.

Highchair Hammock

Three grand kids have used this high chair, but Hayes was the first to turn it into a hammock.
