Hooray for Virginia Friends

We had a great weekend visit with twins Carter & Evelyn and their parents.  You might be able to guess, but Alissa and I got a bit carried away at the Fairy Godmother store :)

You just don't get any cuter than a ballerina butterfly princess armed with screwdrivers.

Carter and Evelyn had a love-hate relationship with Django, but by the end of the trip, it was mostly love.

Save the Date

We've been working with the Aitkens to stock up on adorable photos of Grant & Charlie so we'll be ready when it's time to mail out the save the dates for their wedding.

Oh Wow

We found one surefire way to perk up Grant after he wakes up from naptime on the wrong side of the bed: surprise him with a coffee table covered with new car tracks.  His current expression for something he finds neat and exciting is "Oh Wow."  Grant and Hayes both loved watching the cars race around.  Videos to come soon.

For the Fans

Grant loves an audience, so when I left him to his own devices in order to take care of Hayes, he set up a gallery of his zoo animals (and one superhero) to watch him golf.

Super Cupcapes?

I've been wanting to make a superhero cape for Grant for a while now, so when he started talking about his little action figure that he calls "superhero," I asked him if he wanted me to make him a superhero cape.  He very excitedly said yes, so I (very excitedly) ran upstairs to grab the fleece, velcro and scissors.  I came back down to find Grant sitting politely at his table, and as I unfolded the fabric on the table, I heard him ask "Eat it?".  Oops.  Apparently, Grant was expecting a superhero CAKE.  I did manage to convince him to wear the cape I whipped up, but its lack of edibility was a bit of a letdown for him.  So without further ado, Super Car Man Grant and his Non-Edible Cape:

Hayes' First Dip

Hayes went for his first swim.  He loved it and couldn't take his eyes off the water.

Casual Breakfast

I know (Mom!) no elbows on the table while eating, but Grant cracks me up when he rests his weary head on his hand during breakfast.  (Though since I took this picture, he's realized I think it's cute and does it all the time now.)

Hayes' First Meal (Almost)

Hayes always seems hungry, so we thought we'd give him his first rice cereal...

...notice the mess on his bib below.  We're pretty sure he didn't really end up eating anything, so we'll try again in another week or two.
