The Last Boo and First Real Nap in the New Room

One particularly crafty day, a couple of the girls and I decided to make Boo Hoo Owls (while also playing with toddlers).  For the details on this undertaking, check out Allison's blog.  You can see Sarah's owl here.  And now, without further ado, I give you the last of the boo hoo owls.  I didn't take pictures during the process, but let's just say most of it was spent reading my sewing machine manual.

Django was feeling a bit model-y today, so here he is showing off the new owl (check out the leg he's showing off for you!)...

 

Here's Grant after his first real nap in his big boy room.  (Technically, his first nap was yesterday, but I don't think he even slept an hour, and I forgot to take a picture, so I'm not counting that one.)

If you look closely, you might be able to see that Grant has a boo boo on his nose (and if you're counting, he also has one on his forehead).  I'm pretty sure he now thinks "boo boo" is synonymous with "forehead," but I decided to see if the boo hoo owl could work its magic.  So first they had an introduction...

And then I coaxed him to put the owl on his boo boo...

And voila, as you can see from his smile, he's all better now.  One satisfied customer...

The Big Reveal: Grant's Big Boy Room

After weeks of planning and gallons of paint, Grant's big boy room is finally ready for its big reveal.  We still have a couple little projects left like making a headboard, adding a few more things to the wall, and figuring out where to keep his books, but it's at least ready to use now.  The goal is to have him happily sleeping in here by Thanksgiving.

We borrowed cousin Isabelle's crib since we didn't think he was quite ready for the big bed transition yet, but when he's ready, so is his bed!

Here's his (temporarily) bookless reading corner along with some wall magnet boards for displaying his artwork.

He loves to sit and color at his little table (although his favorite thing to color is his hand.  He does it as an excuse to wash his hands.  He starts saying "wash" as he writes on his hand.)

Little Helper

Grant helped finish his big boy room...

He's excellent at removing tape...

In case you were wondering how much tape it takes to paint a room with horizontal stripes, this ball (which Grant has been playing with all day) is less than half of the tape we (as in Kyle, since I'm off the hook when it comes to painting!) used...

Neighborhood Halloween Party

This was our first year to attend the neighborhood Halloween party.  Here I am showing off my seven layer dip masterpiece (it's been a crafty month!)...

Grant hauled his booster seat over to the middle of the driveway so he could sit and have a drink after all the playing he'd been doing...

Here's Grant with one of his favorites of our neighbors.  The cowboy hat wasn't officially part of his costume, he just insists on wearing it sometimes...

Here are all the neighborhood kids that made it to the end of the party for a group picture...

And here we are heading home.  Yes, we were some of the only adults in costume, but if I'm going to make Halloween costumes, then we're going to wear them as much as we can!

After Grant went to bed, we set up the fire pit in the driveway and had a little bonfire while we handed out candy.  It was a great way to end the weekend!
